Dembs Education Counsel

About Us
Dembs Education Counsel helps families of children with disabilities navigate the special education system with experience, empathy, and a commitment to equity. The word “counsel” was chosen intentionally. While it means an attorney, it also embodies the heart of what we do: connecting with families on a personal level and advising them through challenging situations to become confident and effective self-advocates.
In addition to direct legal representation in disputes with schools, we offer behind-the-scenes coaching to educate families about their rights and the processes involved in protecting them. We also help families plan for the future. When dealing with immediate challenges, it can be hard to also think ahead. With our experience, we guide families on their paths forward to ensure they are well-prepared for the years to come. We’re here to provide the support you need today while also helping you plan for tomorrow.
Our Services
Our services are personalized to meet the specific needs of each client and the goals they wish to achieve. Whether you’re navigating school systems, planning for the future, or seeking guidance through a challenging moment, we’re here to support you with experience, empathy, and clarity. Below are some of the most commonly requested areas of assistance.

We help families navigate the special education system to secure the services, supports, and placements their children need and are legally entitled to.
This can be accomplished through participation in IEP meetings, negotiation, mediation, and due process hearings when necessary.
-
We swiftly advocate for students facing disciplinary action to ensure fair treatment and protect their educational rights.
-
We empower parents with the tools and knowledge to confidently advocate for their children’s educational needs.
-

-
We support individuals and families in planning for long-term needs, services, and decision-making as children transition into adulthood.
